The Common Admission Test is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management every year on a rotational basis. As a prerequisite for admissions in all the 20 IIMs and several other prestigious management schools across the country, the IIM CAT is one of the most competitive and important exams for the MBA aspirants.

CAT 2017 is being conducted by IIM Lucknow with TCS as the testing partner. IIM Lucknow has already released the important dates for the exam and the admit card is scheduled to release on October 18, 2017. The important dates for the exam are given below:

CAT Admit Card: Importance

The IIMs release the admit card officially on their official CAT websites every year. The CAT 2017 admit card will be available for download on the official website from October 18 as mentioned above. The candidates are required to download their respective admit cards and must carry the admit card to the exam center on the day of the conduction of CAT 2017 exam.

It should be noted that failing to produce the admit card before the invigilators of the exam shall lead to direct disqualification i.e. the candidates will not be allowed to take the CAT exam this year. Along with the admit card, the test-takers are also required to carry any government photo ID proof (Passport, Aadhar, etc.) for photo identification before the exam.

CAT Admit Card: Steps to Download

The admit card will be available in online mode only. The candidates can start downloading the CAT 2017 admit card from the official website after it is released. Check the detailed steps to download the admit card for CAT exam:

Step 1: Go to the official website and click “Download CAT 2017 Admit Card” link.

Step 2: A login screen will appear. Enter the personal User ID and password to continue.

Step 3: The respective admit card will be displayed on the screen after successful login.

Step 4: Download and take a print out of the admit card and self-attest the photocopy.

After downloading the admit card, check for all the personal credentials like name, center name, etc. Also, check whether the signature and the photograph on the admit card match the respective photo ID proof. For any discrepancy in the admit card, contact the CAT help-desk immediately to fix the errors.

The admit card for CAT includes the personal details and other important details like:

  1. Name, Registration Number, and User ID
  2. Signature and Photograph
  3. Category and Date of Birth
  4. PWD Number
  5. Name of the exam center and address
  6. Exam date and time
  7. Test system number
  8. Additional exam instructions

The IIMs also provide provision to recover the password if a candidate forgets his/her login credentials and is unable to access the admit card. Candidates can click on the “Forgot password” tab in the login screen to recover their credentials. Also, candidates availing the scribe service must carry the “scribe affidavit” along with the admit card and photo ID card in the exam center.

As the CAT exam is extremely competitive, the candidates must be well prepared for the exam to be able to clear the CAT cutoff for respective institutes and take admission in their preferred B-School. The CAT 2017 will be conducted on November 26 and the results are expected to release by the end of December and the scorecard will be given thereafter.
