Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) will conduct a Main Exam (Computer Based Test) for recruitment for vacant posts of Assistant Geologist (Post Code : 1924) in Tamil Nadu Industries Subordinate Service (Code No.044). Written Exam of Assistant Geologist will be held in the month of February, 2015. Candidates who applied for this Competitive Exam should download their E-admit Card or Hall Ticket to enter in prescribed Exam Centre of Assistant Geologist Exam conducting by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). No Admit Card or Hall Ticket will reach home of Candidates by post, it can only be download in upcoming dates before Exam.Written exam of Assistant Geologist on 1st February 2015 has notified to release the admit card in its official website soon.

Initially the Public Service Commission was built by British Government in 1921. The main function of Public service Commission that time was to examine the salary structure of the Indian Civil Service. In 1929 , the Madras Service Commission came into existence under the Act of the Madras Legislature in 1929. In the year 1957 , the Madras Service Commission became Madras Public Service Commission And finally in the Year 1970 , it became as TNPSC which is having full name as Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. The TNPSC conducts the various examination for many posts in the various department and also conducts the civil services exam for Group I , II and IV.

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission earlier issued a recruitment notification of Assistant Geologists and invited eligible candidates to apply online. Applications were accepted from eligible candidates who fulfilled the essential requirement as stipulated by the Commission.

Exam schedule:

Exam Pattern:

• The examination will be consisting two papers Paper I and Paper II.
• The Paper I will be of Geology having 300 marks and a duration of 03 hours.
• The Paper II will be of General Studies having 200 marks and having a duration of 02 hours.
• The Paper for Geology will be in English only and General Studies paper will be in English and Tamil both.

Min Cut off marks for TNPSC Asst Geologist  Exam: 

•  Minimum Qualifying Marks for selection 171 (for SC, ST, MBC/DC, BC(M) & BC) & 228 (for Others).

• The Question paper in “General Studies” will be set both in English and in Tamil and the question paper in the subject “Printing Technology” will be set in English only.

•  There will also be a Interview of 70 marks.

•  The question paper in the subject Geology will be set in English only.
