Assam Rifles Group Insurance Scheme (ARGIS) was introduced wef 01 Jan 1978. It has been approved by Govt of India, Ministry of Home Affairs. The scheme is administered by a Board of Trustees under Chairmanship of DG Assam Rifles. The Assam Rifles has started extended insurance cover to its officers, JCOs and OR namely Post Retirement Insurance Scheme (PRIS) wef 01 Jan 1989.
