Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the Civil Services IAS preliminary examination in the month of June/ July 2017 and the results of the same were also declared. All the candidates who had qualified in the preliminary examination are preparing for the main exam which is scheduled in the month of October 2017. The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS) among others. The examination is the toughest examination in India. It is conducted in two phases – the Preliminary examination, consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies and Aptitude Test), and the Main examination, consisting of the nine papers of the conventional (essay) type followed by the Personality Test (Interview). This year UPSC conducted the Civil services preliminary examination and the candidates who had qualified can check the Main exam schedule from the official website.

UPSC IAS Mains Time Table 2017:
According to the schedule, it is seen that the Paper-I essay will be conducted on October 28th, 2017. General Studies will be conducted on 30th and 31st of October 2017. Optional papers are scheduled for 3rd November 2017.
The language papers will be conducted on 1st November 2017. The languages will be selected by the candidates from the list. Assamese / Bengali / Bodo / Dogri / Gujarati / Hindi / Kannada / Kashmiri / Konkani / Maithili / Malayalam / Manipuri / Marathi / Nepali / Oriya / Punjabi / Sanskrit / Santhali / Sindhi (Devanagari/Arabic Script are the languages mentioned in the list.
English paper is likely to conduct in the afternoon session on the mentioned date. October 29th and November 2nd are not mentioned in the schedule to which we can assume they will be no exam that day.
The duration of exam will be for 3 hours and in two sessions. 9 am to 12 noon the forenoon session is held and 2 pm to 5 pm Afternoon session is held.
