West Bengal College Service Commission has released notification for the state eligibility test 2017. The candidates who are interested can apply for this test to get posted as Assistant Professors. West Bengal SET Notification 2017:
The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) came into existence on November 02, 1979 in terms of Act LXII of 1978. The two main functions of the Commission are: To prepare merit panels of candidates eligible for recruitment to the posts of Lecturer in different subjects/disciplines of Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Physical Education, Foreign Languages, Law, Journalism and Mass Communication, Fine Arts and Music in the Degree Colleges affiliated to Calcutta University, Burdwan University, North Bengal University, Kalyani University and Vidyasagar University.
Every year it conducts various examinations for the recruitment of various posts. This year it has released notification for the SET 2017.
The candidates if shortlisted will be appointed as Lecturer in Arts, Science and Social Science in the colleges or university in West Bengal. The general candidates should have to pay Rs 1000 as application fee and other reservation candidates will pay Rs. 500/-. Candidates can apply through e-challan at any branch office of the United Bank of India.

Educational Qualification:
- General category candidates must have obtained at least 55% aggregate & those belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD categories must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate in the Master’s Degree or equivalent examination recognized by UGC.
- Those aspirants who have appeared or will be appearing for the final year exam of Master’s Degree can also apply.
- Candidates who had completed Master’s Degree by 19th September 1991 and are current PhD degree holders will be eligible and get a relaxation of 5% aggregate.
- He/She is eligible to apply if holds postgraduate diploma/ certificate awarded by Indian University OR foreign degree/ diploma/ certificate awarded by the foreign University.
Age Limit
There is no upper age limit in order to appear for WB SET 2017.
