[WATCH VIDEO] Aamir Khan Reveals Why He Refused Rajnikanth’s ‘2.0’ Movie Despite A Request From Thalaiva

He is probably the only actor in Bollywood who has been constantly giving back-to-back hits for the last 17 years of his career.
Every time he signs a role, he will make sure that he would be convinced to see himself in the role and he can justify it. If not, he won’t sign and certainly abandons it. And for everyone’s surprise, the same happened when Aamir was offered South Indian Superstar Rajnikanth’s role in ‘2.0’.
Yes, it’s true.
Director Shankar’s 2.0 is the most expensive Indian film ever made till date. With an estimated budget of over Rs 400 crore, the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer is being shot in 3D. Not many know that this sequel to Robot was first offered to Aamir Khan when Rajinikanth couldn’t do it due to health reasons.
Interestingly, every fan of Aamir was quite anxious that they are going to see their favorite actor upcoming project 2.0, which is touted as the most expensive film not just in India, but across Asia. But, Aamir didn’t accept the role and abandoned the prestigious project.
In a recent interview to Komal Nahta, the Dangal actor shared the incident when Rajini sir had called him to do the film since he wasn’t feeling well. Aamir replied saying,
“Rajini sir himself wasn’t feeling well that time so he told Shankar, please request Aamir. Rajini Sir called me up and said, Please do the film. It’s a superb script and it’s going to do very well. Whenever I used to shut my eyes, I used to see Rajini sir in that role. I could not see myself. Emotionally, when I used to think of the film, think of the scene, Rajini sir used to come in my head. I could not imagine myself doing it. Then I told Shankar that I won’t be able to do it. Only Rajini sir can do it. He is irreplaceable. I can only imagine Rajini sir in this. See, he had also done the first part, I had seen the first part and I loved it.”

The Dangal actor also stated that he knows that the film will be the biggest hit and will break box-office records across all languages, but he still didn’t take up the film.
Apart from Rajnikanth, 2.0 also features Akshay Kumar, who will be seen playing the main antagonist in the movie. It marks Akshay’s first project in Tamil cinema. The film will be released on January 25, 2018.
