Sonali Bendre is one of the finest Bollywood actresses. She had her heydays in the mid-90s but for around 15 years, she is considered a has-been especially after her disappearance from the screen. The gorgeous actress made her debut in Bollywood with ‘Aag (1994)’ opposite Govinda was noticed from her first flick despite the fact that the movie flopped.
Before stepping into the films, she was a model. Bendre started out as a model before being selected for the “Star Dust Talent Search”. Her first role was in Aag.
At first, she had to struggle for success but all her efforts proved to be fruitful when the actress was critically acclaimed for her acting skills in several movies including ‘Sarfarosh’, ‘Diljale’, ‘Duplicate’, ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’, ‘Bhai’, ‘Zakhm’, ‘Tera Mera Saath Rahen’ and ‘Kadhalar Dhinam’ (Tamil).
One of the highlights of Sonali’s film career is she got a chance to perform opposite all the Khans of the industry (Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan). In addition to her acting performances, she was also recognized as a graceful dancer through films such as Gaddar, Sapoot, Bombay, Lajja and Major Saab.
Apart from Hindi, she has also appeared in Telugu, Tamil, Marathi and Kannada films.
She had also a good career in the television world, as she hosted few shows including Kya Masti Kya Dhoom and 50th Filmfare Awards. She also became a judge on some reality shows, such as Mr & Mrs. Television, Indian Idol 4, India’s Got Talent, Hindustan Ke Hunarbaaz, India’s Best Dramebaaz.
She got several awards such as IIFA Award for Best Actress, Star Screen Award Best Supporting Actress, and Best Actress Marathi. Well, she has been away from the film industry for quite a good time now and her fans will definitely be delighted to know that she still looks beautiful.
