Bangistan Movie Story Line:

The movie is set in a fictional island nation called Bangistan (don’t ask why!), which is divided into two parts. The North Bangistan is inhabited by Muslims, while the South by Hindus. Their chief leaders are friends and want to openly show their solidarity at World Religious Conference (or something like that…), that’s being held in Poland. The extremist groups on each side don’t like the idea so they convince two gullible youths to bomb the conference.

The Muslims hire Hafeez Bin Ali (Riteish Deshmukh), a former BPO employee who leaves his job because Americans call him a terrorist. The Hindus rope in Praveen Chaturvedi (Pulkit Samrat), a Ram Leela enthusiast and follower of ‘Maa ki Dal‘ outfit. Both the prospective suicide bombers change their religions so that the blame of the bombing fall on to the other group.

In Poland, these two meet, became building mates and later friends, dance with a hot waitress (Jacqueline Fernandez) on the streets of Krakow, before their original identities dawn upon them, leading to a climax of absurd proportions! All these lead us to ask just one question for the director- how did you convince Farhan Akhtar to loosen his purse and produce this absurdity?

Bangistan Complete Review & Rating:

The movie was primarily scheduled to be released on April 17, 2015, but got delayed due to some technical issues. Later it was postponed to July 31, 2015, but it got delayed again and the team finalized the release to be August 7, 2015. The official trailer of the movie was released on June 11, 2015, and received a huge response for the story plot and funny dialogues.

Ram Sampath has scored the music for Bangistan and not a single song is yet to make its mark among the audiences. It is good and Ritesh, Pulkit and Jacqueline are not bad, but there is no surprise element in the movie.

Pakistan and UAE ban Bangistan:

Bangistan is mainly shot in Poland. It is all about a two common men, involved in an explosive mission who eventually realize that it involves threat.

Terrorism is a serious concept, but the director tried to show it in a humorous way. But even then, Pakistan and UAE objected its release in their countries, complaining the controversial elements in the subject.

Star Performances:

  • Riteish Deshmukh has done a good job, he proves he is a talented actor whose abilities are not being utilised in a film.
  • Pulkit Samrat is purely overacting and trying to imitate his idol, Salman Khan which gets a little irritating. He is too loud with his dialogues whereas Riteish gives good expressions and delivers good scenes as well.
  • Jacqueline comes in one song and two scenes, so can’t really judge her performance.

Verdict: Bangistan is a huge disappointment, especially since it came from the stable of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
