KBC 2017 Season 9 New Rules:
The season introduced a 16 question format, where the first 10 questions are timed (45 seconds for the first five questions and 60 seconds for the following five questions). In order to play the 16th question, the contestant must give up all remaining lifelines and the right to walk away after answering the 10th question correctly.
The 50:50 lifeline replaced Double Dip and the Three Wise Men lifeline was replaced by the Plus One (from the United States version). Phone-a-Friend (now sponsored by Jio) introduced video calls. Of late, after the show started airing, there have been speculations about the registrations for the 9th season beginning again, given the fact that 19.8 million entries were received ever since the show was announced by Sony in 2017.
