Padmaavat Makers Organized Special Screening For Karni Sena, This Is How They Reacted

Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed historical drama film ‘Padmavati’ had faced and still facing constant disruption in the form of violence and threats from members of Rajput Karni Sena ever since they disrupted the shoot of the film in Jaipur in 2017.

The troubles continued and didn’t seem to end any sooner and also witnessed increasing threats against the director of the film and the actors. From creating violence to slapping Bhansali, Karni Sena had never left any stone unturned to put a ban on the flick.

Padmavati controversy

The group does not want facts to be misrepresented in the film and thus, caused various disruptions while the film was being shot. Despite the fact that Bhansali made a clarification of no scene between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, Karni Sena’s goons had started harassing the filmmaker and the cast of the film.

They also claimed that there is a romantic dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Allauddin Khilji. Even prize was announced on the heads of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone and one Rajput leader warned Deepika of chopping her nose if she didn’t stop talking in support of the film.

Padmavati has been embroiled in controversies and didn’t release as planned on December 1, 2017. The Supreme Court also refused to entertain a plea seeking a stay on the release of Padmavati and said the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) considers all aspects before granting the certificate to any film.

The release has been deferred until further notice. Bollywood’s silence over the Padmavati controversy during the last few months has been telling. Most of the film industry’s actors and filmmakers have chosen to not comment about the protests and ridiculous demand to ban the film.

However, has been passed by CBFC with U/A certificate. it means that the flick can be watched by all age groups but children under the age of 12 can watch it under the parental guidance only. However, there are a few changes to the title and is set be released as ‘Padmaavat’.

Apart from the name change, the censor board has also told the makers to make 26 cuts and disclaimers will be shown before the start of the film and after the interval too. This states that the movie is a work of fiction and has no connection with any historical figure. The movie was also shown to historians from Jaipur by the CBFC before passing it.

However, amidst these protests, Karni Sena wasa asked to watch the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie before its release. On January 23, Viacom 18 organised the screening of “Padmaavat” for 40 representatives of Karni sena which also included the mediator Suresh Chavhanke. After watching the movie, Suresh tweeted that Bhansali has bowed down to the demands of Rajputs and this is their victory. They termed it as “Jhuka Bhansali Jeeta Rajput”.
