After Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani’s blockbuster successes, all eyes are set on Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone once again as their upcoming film ‘Padmavati’ is set to release. The film is centered around the life of Rani Padmini who is being played by Deepika, while Ranveer appears as Alauddin Khilji. It also stars Shahid Kapoor, essaying Maharawal Ratan Singh.
Padmavati is all set to release on December 1 as Ranveer Singh, who plays Alauddin Khilji in the grand epic, has wrapped up his portion for the saga. He turned up for a celebration by his co-star Deepika Padukone.
He shared this with his fans on Twitter and Instagram with a photo and captioned it, “And it’s a wrap! Goodbye Alauddin. 1 year and a few weeks later, I bid thee farewell. May your restless soul find its peace… #Khilji.”
The actor’s aggressive avatar as Khilji caught the attention of Bollywood buffs. He sports kohl eyes, long tresses, and a scar on his face for the role of the anti-hero in the period drama. Deepika essays the title role in the movie, which sets out to tell the tale of the valor and heroism of Rajputs. Shahid Kapoor features as her husband.
It is even said that Ranveer attended rehabilitation center to get out of the depression after playing the character in the movie.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic saga, Padmavati, has been embroiled in controversies with Rajput Karni Sena objecting to the film’s release. The group does not want facts to be misrepresented in the film and thus, caused various disruptions while the film was being shot in Rajasthan.
Rajput Karni Sena has now demanded that Sanjay Leela Bhansali should show the movie to people of their organization so they can check if the film is tampering with historical facts. The trailer of Padmavati presented Ranveer’s menacing Khilji in all its glory and it would be safe to assume that his performance is going be applauded by the audience.
This would be Ranveer’s third collaboration with Bhansali. The duo first worked in Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela (2013) and then worked together in Bajirao Mastani (2015). Padmavati’s trailer was also launched in 3-D recently. Ranveer Singh was last seen in Aditya Chopra’s Befikre (2016).
He has spent more than a year on Bhansali’s Khilji and we can expect this performance of the actor to completely blow away his audience.
