Vidya Balan is one of the boldest actresses in Bollywood. She is known for her brilliant performances and carrying films on her own. Vidya has defied all the norms and has carved her own niche in the industry. She is currently promoting her new film ‘Tumhari Sulu’.

The actress has time and again said that she finds a saree the most glamorous attire and that she loves her body and has embraced it completely. But there have been times when she has had to deal with questions about her body weight and her weight loss plans as well.

Recently, during the promotion of the film, a journalist asked Vidya an awkward question and put her on the spot. She was asked if she would only be doing women-centric movies or has she thought about losing her weight.

First, Vidya was confused by the question and asked further clarification from the journalist. She asked him to clarify the correlation between getting thinner and doing women-centric roles. After clarifying it, the actress slammed the journalist with a mouth-shutting response.

Visibly miffed with the question, the actress who has been in her character ever since the release of the trailer of the movie, very politely replied, “I am very happy doing the kind of work I am doing and it will be really great if you people can change your mentality.”

She has explained that she doesn’t strive for the superficial appearance that is glorified by the media. She is comfortable in her own skin. Her brilliant response against Body shaming is worth applauding.

This is not the first time that Vidya has condemned body shaming. Earlier, in an interview, Vidya said, “There is no end to rejecting your body and spending a lifetime doing that. But what really happens, it is not your body’s fault, your body needs at least one person on its side, and I said to myself that this is my body and I love it.”

She also shared that the film industry can be really sexist and she did face a fair amount of sexism in the initial phase of her career. Vidya said, “The film industry has been really nice to me. I’m quite head-strong. But I think it can really be sexist. In the initial phase of my career, I did face a fair amount of sexism. I used to be really angry about that.”
