Don’t Fall For This Rumoured Facebook Privacy Hoax

Had you recently came across a notice on Facebook regarding the profile privacy? Did you share the Facebook notice? It claims there is a change in privacy settings. Don’t believe such notices or statements and share them. Those are actually rumours.

It says you to “copy the statement and paste it into a status update otherwise, your profile and pictures will become public.” There is no need to worry or fret. It is actually a 21st-century version of a chain letter.

Facebook hoax rumours

Reacting to this statement, Facebook has issued a statement clarifying that the recent ‘privacy notice’ asking users to retain control over the content they post on the platform is a hoax.

Here is the statement which is a Hoax:

“Due to the fact that Facebook has chosen to use a software that will allow the theft of my personal information, I declare the following: At this date of 29 June 2016, in response to the new guidelines of Facebook and under Articles L. 111, 113 and 113 of the code of intellectual property, I declare that my rights are attached to all my personal data, drawings, paintings, photos, text etc.… Published on my profile and on my pages. Facebook Privacy Settings

Facebook Reaction To The Above Statement:

“You may have seen a post telling you to copy and paste a notice to retain control over things you share on Facebook. Don’t believe it. Our terms say clearly: You own all of the content and information you post on Facebook and you can control how it’s shared through your privacy and application settings. That’s how it works, and this hasn’t changed,” Facebook said in a statement.

Last year, a similar incident took place. Hoax messages became viral asking users to post a legal notice to retain copyright of their pictures and sign up for a paid monthly subscription.

Facebook then clarified, “You can visit Privacy Basics to find out more about who sees what you share on Facebook and other topics. You can also read the Data Policy to find out what information we collect and how it is used and shared. We want you to be informed and in control of your experience on Facebook.”
