Brace Yourself Gmail Users, Hackers Are On The Way

A new pathway to hack your Gmail account is identified and a large number of cases were registered. Earlier, this hacking strategy was noticed with facebook and other accounts too. But, the issue with this new kind of hacking is quite out of the box, where even an able techie might get hacked.

Experts described this procedure as ‘Gmail phishing’ and Mark Maunder, CEO of WordPress security service Wordfence has discovered this scam.

The scam has managed to convince even experienced technical users, and is targeting other services in addition to Gmail,” said Maunder.

Following Is The Procedure:

At first, you will get an email on your Gmail account.

– The mail appears like it was sent by someone you know (now, understand that the sender’s account is hacked in a similar way).

– An image or an attachment is included in the mail which also looks very familiar –something like you had previously sent to this contact.

– The click on that image redirects you to an another tab.

– A Gmail sign in page is now displayed (which asks you to sign in again).

– Alert time! If you curiously sign-in then good luck! you now fell into the hacker’s trap.

– This is a very unrecognisable trap if you don’t pay attention to the location bar.

Precautions You Must Take:

Stay aware of your location bar.

Make sure of verifying the protocol.

– Now, look at the web address, it must look like “https://accounts.google.com” and nothing should precede “https://”.

– Check if your web address is secured (the green coloured lock symbol at the left-hand side of “https://” indicates that)

– It will be better to activate a two-factor authentication password for better security.
