Prostitution is one of the oldest professions in the world without reason and it is in almost all the countries and every type of society.  prostitution extends to all ancient and modern cultures. There are about 42 million prostitutes in the world, living all over the world except for most of the Middle East and Africa. In Indian mythology there are many high-class prostitution in the form of celestial demigods acting as prostitutes. The acting prostitution are called as Menaka, Rambha, Urvashi, and Thilothamma. They are described as perfect and unsurpassed beauty and feminine charms. They are mostly accomplished in music and dance.

1.Natpurwa, Uttar Pradesh :

This is the village in Hardoi district of eastern Uttar Pradesh, 70 kms from Lucknow. In this small village of roughly 5000 population gets its name from its inhabitants who belong to the Nat caste. Prostitution, their main source of income. children in this village are not aware about the name of their fathers and they live with their mothers. Shockingly, this bizarre norm exists since last 400 years.  More than 70 present Children, mostly girls of this village are into flesh trade. Over the years, women from this village have migrated to cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and some have even shifted to Dubai.

 2. Devdasis of Karnataka:

Devdasis is a girl “dedicated” to worship and service of a deity or a temple for the rest of her life. Devadasis belt, in Bellary and Koppal districts of Karnataka.  Devadasis had a high status in society. After marrying wealthy patrons, they spent their time honing their skills instead of becoming a housewife. Their virginity is auctioned off in the village and they spend the rest of their lives as prostitutes, making money for their families.  Devadasi system is contuned in many places like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Wadia is a small village situated in the Banaskantha district of North Gujarat. Wadia is the only village which openly known for prostitution in Gujarat, which otherwise does not boast of any red-light areas, and flesh trade is a business which thrives underground. Since from ancient times, the womenfolk of this Wadia village in Gujarat have supported their families through prostitution. The men of the villages are pimps and this culture has been around for centuries, which is why it has been difficult to stop.

4. The Bachara Tribe of Madhya Pradesh:

Bachara is a tribal matriarchal community in the western part of Madhya Pradesh. Baachhda’ tribe is also known for practicing prostitution traditionally. Here own women’s are pushed into prostitution by their own fathers and brothers. The role of pimps as soon as they attain the 14 year of age.  Most of families have a dedicated room in their houses to continue this dreaded profession. Baacchda tribe has found the new way to expand its traditional business of prostitution. The people are buying children only to push them into the business.
