IPL 2017: As #DhoniDropped trends, Here’s how Sehwag DESTROYS Dhoni Haters

MS Dhoni, who dropped himself as the Indian Captain from the International Cricket. Eventually, his fans and others thought he would now score huge runs despite Captaincy job. But, the current IPL edition hasn’t been good for Dhoni so far.

This year’s IPL hasn’t been so great yet for MS Dhoni. He has hardly made any runs with the bat so far in the four matches. Hence, Dhoni has been scrutinized and targeted by many on Twitter upon his performance. One of the owners of the RPS Harsh Goenka himself tweeted about Dhoni’s performance and dropping him as a Captain.

Sehwag backs MS Dhoni

Here raised a certain degree of drop in one of the most deadly finishers in the game. Dhoni’s dry spell with the bat has got plenty of tongues wagging. Dhoni has been a pale shadow of himself, barely reaching double-digit scores in Supergiant’s first four matches. Even former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly has come down on Dhoni over past few days.

After his failure with the bat during his RPS’s defeat to Gujarat Lions on Friday, #DhoniDropped started trending on Twitter. While the criticism has been strong, there has even been steady support for MSD from several quarters and his fans. RPS skipper Steve Smith and former Australian pacer Brett Lee were emphatic while backing Dhoni.

Fans showed their faith in the Dhoni by making the #WeStandByDhoni trend on Twitter.

However, the biggest form of support for Dhoni has come from the most unlikely quarter which was also included by his former teammate Virender Sehwag. In an interview, Sehwag explained that there was no reason to worry about Dhoni’s form.

“The position at which he’s coming in to bat is very difficult. He is still the best at No. 5 or No. 6,” said Viru. “There’s no doubt that he will be back in form sooner rather than later. There’s a lot of time left in the IPL. One should not judge a player of Dhoni’s stature just by the outcome of three-four games” Sehwag said.

“IPL should not be a platform to judge an experienced player like Dhoni. It’s fine if you judge a youngster on the basis of IPL as it is difficult for a newcomer to showcase his talent in front of a huge crowd” added Sehwag that he recently scored an ODI  hundred against England which still shows his worth in the team and also a worth of his form.

Hence, this straight talk by Viru will give more than one reason for Mahi fans to cheer. A calm figure on and off the field, Dhoni always lets his performance on the field do the talking. Hopefully, Dhoni will get a big knock in the next game.
