Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Roorkee successfully conducted GATE 2017 in the month of February 2017 for Civil Engineer (CE), Computer Science & Electrical Engineer, EC, BT, CY, EY, PI, AE, MA, MT, PE, PH, Mechanical. A huge number of candidates appeared for the exam across various examination centers. All the candidates who had appeared for the GATE 2017 are eagerly waiting for the results. GATE exam is conducted every year as a gateway to postgraduate courses at the Master’s and Doctoral level across the country. The score is also used by some Public and Private Sector Undertakings for employment processes. Direct recruitment to Group A level posts i.e., Senior Field Office (SFO Tele), Senior Research Officer (SRO) (Crypto) and SRO(S&T) in Cabinet Secretariat is now being done on the basis of GATE scores. It primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) jointly administer the conduct of GATE. The operations related to GATE in each of the 8 zones are managed by a zonal GATE Office at the IITs or IISc. The Organizing Institute (OI) is responsible for the end-to-end process and coordination amongst the administering Institutes. The Organizing Institute for GATE 2016 is Indian Institute of Science.
