Telangana TS Engineering Colleges Fee Structure 2016 – 17 To Go Up By 19 Percent

Telangana engineering college fee may rise up to 19 percent. The Admission and Fee Regulation Committee (AFRC) has fixed the fee structure on the basis of individual colleges balance sheets submitted by the colleges in support of their claims for fee hike which is likely to be finalized in the first week of July. The certificate verification process is speeding up after which the fee is finalized. The government will issue GOs for each college and the web options may open up from 5th July 2016.

The average fee for engineering courses this year is likely to be Rs. 49,760 i.e; an increase of over Rs. 8,000 or 19 percent compared to the last year if the final figures of the Admission and Fee Regulation Committee (AFRC) are approved.

About 8 to 10 percent increase in the fee with four colleges crossing the Rs. 1 lakh mark. However, one college has crossed the 1 lakh mark last year itself its fee was reduced by Rs. 4,000 this year but it continues to be in the above one lakh category.

According to the sources, the government has fixed a fee of Rs. 35,000 for 69 colleges whereas 8 colleges are in the Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000 range and another 69 colleges are in Rs. 41,000 to Rs. 49,000 fee structure segment. It means 147 colleges are under less than Rs. 50,000 mark. As many as 46 colleges will be allowed to collect Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 59,000, 17 colleges between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 69,000, 16 colleges from Rs. 71,000 to Rs. 79,000,  five colleges between Rs. 80,000 and Rs. 89,000 and 14 colleges between Rs. 90,000 and Rs. 99,000. Four colleges are in the above Rs. 1 lakh structure. Most of the colleges above Rs. 80,000 are sought-after colleges and situated around Hyderabad city which were established more than a decade ago with good infrastructure.

Irrespective of the fee fixed by the AFRC, the government will reimburse only Rs. 35,000 for the eligible candidates and the difference has to be borne by the students themselves. However, those securing ranks below 10,000 get full fee reimbursement. In the last revision done in 2013-14 academic year, which was valid for three years, the AFRC fixed Rs. 35,000 for 258 engineering colleges while around 175  in the Rs. 35,000 and above category.
