Salman Sued in The United States
Actor Salman Khan with some other big names of Bollywood is being sued in the United States for breach of Million Dollar contract.
Who is suing Bollywood stars?
An Indian-American promoter is suing some big names in Bollywood, including likes of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
Why are they suing? And to who?
According to reports, Sonakshi Sinha, Ranveer Singh and Prabhudheva. Alongside with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are being sued in Us by an Indian-American company. According to the reports the company said, stars did not return the deposit after cancelling the show that was slated to take place in the US.
According to reports Company had paid the stars to perform in a live event ‘Celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema’,. Which was slated to take place on September 1, 2013.
Why was the concert cancelled?
The reason given by the company for cancellation of the show is. Salman was having some legal issues and was not able to leave India due to the blackbuck poaching case. The company had even proposed to postpone the event but in vain.
How much money was paid to the celebrities?
According to the company they have paid more than $200,000 to Salman in advance of the concert to be held at the Sears Centre in Chicago on September 1. Katrina was paid $40,000 and Sonakshi $36,000.
The loss that company is claiming.
Now, the cancellation of the event was just not enough. The company is claiming that neither the celebrities did the show, nor they offered to return the money.
In a statement they said,“All calls to Mr Khan, his agents, and other artists, for the return of the funds have gone unanswered,” the group said as it sought damages of at least $1 million.
While the allegations are severe, no final judgement has been announced. And we have only heard one side of the story. However, if proven right it’s shameful for our industry. We hope that there is a side of a story that we have not heard yet which will explain everything. Because if its right it is a shameful incident.
