Here’s The Untold Story Of MS Dhoni’s Brother, Narendra Singh Dhoni Who Wasn’t Shown In The Movie

‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ became the biopic with the biggest opening. Sponsored by the Indian skipper himself, the movie showed how Ranchi boy ‘Mahi’ went on to become the successful captain of the Indian cricket team.

Cinema halls across the country were full of fans whistling and clapping every time Dhoni breathed in the movie. Cricket fans loved the movie and the movie is turning out to be a massive hit among the general audiences.

However the movie has caught the eyes of the critics with the absence of more important aspects of Dhoni’s life that includes a fair share of controversies.

As we all know Mahi has two siblings, his sister Jayanti Gupta and Narendra Singh Dhoni. But the biopic showed only the character of his sister Jayanti that was played by Bhumika Chawla.

But Dhoni’s brother Narendra was not mentioned in the much-talked biopic even once. This makes one curious to know as to why Dhoni’s elder brother was missing from the biopic, specially when all other family members and friends were received their respective screen time.

So where is Narendra Singh Dhoni and what is he doing?

Narendra Singh Dhoni isn’t an unknown face in Ranchi. He has his share of popularity; a local politician who has been affiliated with different parties in different stages of his life.

Narendra Singh Dhoni joined BJP in 2009 but later migrated to SP in 2013.

According to a report by The Telegraph, Narendra doesn’t have a bitter word to say about his younger brother’s biopic.

It must have been the filmmaker’s choice. What can I say?”, said Narendra while being asked about his absence in the film.

He explains why he thinks he wasn’t in the movie:

I may be non-existent in the movie because I don’t have much contribution in Mahi’s life – be it during his childhood, his struggle as a young man or after he became MSD for the world. The film is about Mahi, not his family.

True that! The biopic was about Dhoni and his struggle alone!

However, on asking why he does not play an important role in Dhoni’s life? He said,

I am 10 years older to him. By the time, he picked up the bat for the first time, I was out of JVM-Shyamali and had also been away from home since 1991. I was in Almora at Kumon (University) where I completed my higher studies before returning to Ranchi. Although I may have moral contributions in Mahi’s life, showcasing it would have been very difficult in the film.

But this does not mean he has never seen Mahi play.

I did when I used to be home during vacation. I remember I was present when he debuted in Ranchi district senior tournament where he hit five fours in one over. He played beautifully then at Mecon grounds. Even after that, I saw him play on a few occasions at local meets whenever I came home.

Narendra Singh Dhoni also expressed that his younger brother and India’s greatest Test captain would not be able to recall the time he spent with his elder brother as he was very young at the time.

Narendra also stressed that the brothers now share a very good bond and that he is proud of Mahi just like the rest of the family.

Interestingly, Narendra has been a sportsman himself. Lastly, when Telegraph asked him whether he was ever into sports? He stunned us with this answer, “Oh yes! I used to play football for JVM-Shyamali (DAV then). I represented DAV in many national school meets as well

So this is why probably NSD was missing from the biopic. Well, we don’t have any complaints after listening to the man himself. What do you say? Share your views in the comments section below.
