The festival of Makara Sankranti this time witnessed a clash of titans in the Telugu film industry with Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna releasing their blockbuster movies on alternate days. Chiru’s 150th movie Khaidi No. 150 and Balakrishna’s prestigious 100th film Gautamiputra Satakarni did a tremendous job at the box office.

While Chiru is back after nine years with Khaidi No. 150 with a social element highlighting the problems of farmers, Balakrishna, on the other hand, came with a glorifying script of Telugu emperor Satakarni, the life of 2nd century AD Satavahana ruler Gautamiputra Satakarni who was the most powerful king among Satavahanas.

The release of Chiranjeevi’s 150th film Khaidi No. 150 on Wednesday and Balakrishna’s 100th film Gautamiputra Satakarni hitting the screen a day later, has generated a huge interest among the fans as well as movie lovers.

The Chiranjeevi film is a remake of a hit Tamil movie Kathi, while the movie with Balakrishna in lead role is of the historical genre on the life of Gautamiputra Satakarni, the 23rd ruler of Satavahana dynasty of Andhra.

Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s comeback film creates new record in the US. Domestic box office to follow suit. Khaidi No 150 has collected Rs 47.70 crore gross (Rs 30.45 crore share) in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Rs 7.50 crore gross (Rs 4.30 crore share) in Karnataka, Rs 9.60 crore gross (Rs 5.76 crore share) in the US and Rs 3.35 crore gross (Rs 1.70 crore share) in other parts of the globe on its opening day.

Khaidi No 150, which was premiered in over 200 screens in the US on Tuesday, has collected $1,251,548 (Rs 8.56 crore) at the US box office. Gautamiputra Satakarni (GPSK) made superb collections at the worldwide box office on the first day and turned the biggest opener for Balakrishna and Krish. Gautamiputra Satakarni has also entered the list of top 10 highest grossing Telugu movies at the US box office in the premiere shows.

Gautamiputra Satakarni collected Rs 25 crore gross at the worldwide box office on the first day. The movie is estimated to have earned over Rs 18 crore for its distributors on its opening day. On the other hand. Khaidi no. 150 had a drastic fall on its second day collections. Khaidi No 150 has collected Rs 23 Crores at the worldwide box office on the second day.
