According to Ancient Hindu Scriptures, some prominent Hindu deities appeared at the time of Samudra Manthan and Goddess Laxmi was also one of them.  And When all the Gods from heaven, led by Lord Indra were robbed of their wealth and prosperity, it was Goddess Laxmi, who came to their rescue.

Goddess Laxmi blessed God Indra and gave him Dwadashakshar Mantra to restore the wealth and prosperity, fame and peace of mind but only on one condition that he has to follow it religiously. So anyone who worships Goddess Laxmi using this mantra every Friday night will also be blessed by Lord Kuber who showers immense prosperity.

Even in Vishnu Puram, it is mentioned that Goddess Laxmi has been praised for her gentility by Lord Indra and on his request, she agreed to stay happily in heaven but also warned that if there are no traces of these five things. It is believed that if Goddess Laxmi spots any of these 5 traits in her devotees, she leaves their side.

Here are the Five things that Goddess Laxmi never likes:

1. Lust

It is said that wherever or whenever there are lust overpowering Dharma and Karma, neglecting the righteousness of daily life Goddess Laxmi will never stay at that place.

2. Ego

Yes, Goddess Laxmi will not stay in that home where people are immersed in their arrogance and ignorance because ego subdues their consciousness.

3. Greed

Goddess Laxmi will never stay in that home where people are greedy because this trait is bigger than Karma. Shastras state, “’लोभस्य पाप कारणम्’” – Greed is the ground for Sin.

4. Violence

People or a place, which religiously harm innocent animals and humans for their leisure, could never have Goddess Laxmi stay with them.

5. Disrespecting woman

A person who does not respect a women or believes in cruelty against innocent women always receives the wrath of Goddess Laxmi.
