Apparently stressed over studies, a 15-yearold girl student tried to end her life by standing in the middle of the tracks as a slow train chugged into Malad station. Here’s a CCTV footage showing a teen standing on the railway tracks next to platform 1 of Malad railway station, in an attempt to kill herself. The incident took place in the afternoon on December 4.

The girl was saved in the nick of time after the motorman slammed emergency brakes and brought the train to a halt inches from her. Railway staff pulled the distressed teenager, Dahisar resident Neha Gupta, to safety and handed her over to her family after counselling her.

During the investigations that followed officials learnt from the girl’s parents that she is undergoing treatment for mental stress. GRP officials got details of the teen’s parents residing at Dahisar and handed her to them.
