Unofficial records are reporting that at least 20 Indians are killed in the Saudi Arabia-led alliance conducted airstrikes. Saudi-led coalition carried air strikes on old smugglers in Yemen on Tuesday in which at least 20 Indian are reported of being killed. Briefed about the speculating reports of foreign sources, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is probing into the issue to find out the whether the deceased were Indian nationals.

Saudi-led Coalition Air Strikes in Yemen Kill 20 Indians

Local residents and fisherman’s claimed that at least 20 Indian nationals are feared to be dead in Saudi-led alliance air strikes at a Yemeni port on oil smugglers. Local sources state that at a small port near Hodeidah in western Yemen which is one of the Indian nationals residing locality two boats were struck with air strikes of the Saudi-led coalition.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA- India) is Probing for Legitimacy

On being asked about the killing of 20 Indians in Yemen, Vikas Swarup of Ministry of External Affairs said, “We are ascertaining the facts about the reports.” After the evacuation of the Indian embassy in Yemen in the month of April, the government is unable to get the precise data regarding the reports. Although the local new source Saba stated that about 15 citizens were killed in air strikes and the medical agencies are also claiming that over 15 civilians were killed in similar attacks on Monday.

Saudi-led alliance which is comprising mostly the Gulf Arab countries is carrying strikes over Yemen as a response to the Houthi missile attack which killed at least 60 Saudi, Bahraini and United Arab Emirates soldiers at a military camp east of Sanaa. Since then the alliance is increasing its strikes over Yemen parts which are speculated to be occupied with Houthi. Sources are reporting that Saudi coalition has deployed additional 10,000 forces.
