Though BJP increases its tally, but still is short of the majority. It can gain in Rajasthan where the party has a massive majority. Congress is losing in states and reducing its strength. Other parties like Samajwadi Party will increase its strength as BSP may lose its power in the House. Venkaiah Naidu is said to be re-elected from Karnataka where a vacancy has been created after Vijay Mallya resigned.

Venkaiah Naidu can also be elected from his home state Andhra Pradesh provided BJP seeks the help of Telugu Desam Party (TDP). From TDP, three seats are likely to come and from YSR Congress, one seat. If Venkaiah Naidu will be elected from AP, then Sitharaman, who 2-year term is getting over has to be elected from some other state.

The Congress is likely to draw a blank from AP or Telangana. Jairam Ramesh, who is currently representing AP, is likely to be elected from Karnataka since the party is in power there. P Chidambaram is also an aspirant from Karnataka. For Congress, Sushil Shinde, Gurudas Kamat, and Mukul Wasnik are aspiring for the lone seat from Maharashtra.

Kerala Assembly Elections will decide the return of Former defence minister AK Antony. Congress will lose one seat in Punjab since two out of three members retiring can come back. From UP, out of six members retiring, only two will make a comeback. From Bihar, five JDU MPs are retiring in which two members will return.
