Rohit Sharma broke the record for the highest ODI individual score of all time on Thusday. Rohit Sharma smashed a brilliant 264 from 173 balls to register the highest score in the history of ODI cricket. He didn’t just beat Virender Sehwag’s 219, but also bettered Belinda Clark’s 229 against Denmark, making this the top individual score in an innings across all one-day internationals.  Not only one in the total innings he broke a number of other records. He was dropped by Thisara Perera after playing a loose shot early on in his innings, but that did not deter the confidence of the Mumbai Indians captain. He went from strength to strength and took just 15 balls to get from 200 to 250.

1. Highest individual score crossed 250 in an ODI innings – 264

Rohit Sharma was the first person to cross 250 score in ODI’s. Shikhar Dhawan’s List A record score of 248, Belinda clark’s has scored 229, Virender Sehwag’s earlier world record of 219 runs. Rohit sharma broke all records crossed 250 in ODI’s.

2. Highest List A score by an Indian

Rohit also broke Shikhar Dhawan’s List A record score of 248 scored against South Africa A in Pretoria last year. Now on Thursday Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma in 4th ODI against Srilanka broke the record of Shikhar Dhawan’s List A record score of 248 with 264 runs.

Rohit’s tally of 42 boundaries (33 fours and 9 sixes) is also a record by a batsman in an innings in ODIs, eclipsing the 32 (25 fours, 7 sixes) by Virender Sehwag during his innings of 219 vs West Indies at Indore on December 8, 2011

Most balls faced by a batsman in a 50-over ODI match – 173

On Thursday Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma in 4th ODI against Srilanka is the first batsman to face most balls in a 50-over ODI match – 173. He faced more balls and made a best score for him and as well as to India.

A team man, the 27-year-old also said that he had the team’s total in mind through the course of his sensational innings. “It is important to look at the team score as it was a good batting wicket. We know even 350 can be chased under lights here. It is really important to think while batting,” Rohit said.
