Recent day relationships are made in a day and they break even faster. Very few of the couples have mutual respect towards each other while most of them stay together and fight just to fulfil their ego. There is a steep increase in the number of abusive relations in the country because of the same.

The husband wants to have an upper hand and thus raise hands over his wife when something goes against his wish, but he forgets the fact she should be given the same kind of respect he desires to have.

Well, apart from the above there is a huge number of cheating cases where either of the spouses has an extramarital affair. Today we are going to share one such anonymous story. Let’s call her Riya(imaginative name). Riya had an arranged marriage and is staying with her husband for three years now.

Despite staying that long she does not feel comfortable with him and started hanging out with his younger brother. Slowly they became close and Riya shared her marital problems with her brother-in-law who was very sympathetic towards her and while doing so they kissed during a weak moment. Now she is in a dilemma to continue to stay with her marriage or to leave her husband for her brother-in-law.

There was an amazing response given by Rachana Awatramani, who is a Counselling Psychologist in Mumbai. She stated that usually in arranged-marriage, people do take a lot of time to understand and respect their spouse. This is common in every marriage but you wanted to find some solace in your situation and found it in your own brother-in-law.

Firstly understand if the feelings you have for your brother-in-law are temporary or permanent because you might be ruining your life if you run around temporary feelings. You also have to question yourself if you want to work on your marriage or leave it because you found everything you want in your brother-in-law.

But also think, have you ever expressed that you are not happy with how your husband behaves? If you didn’t, the poor man must be assuming that you are happy with the way he is.

This situation also questions your values and one needs to be emotionally strong to go through the consequences because this might be the reason which will break your family but ultimately the choice is yours to take and hope you make a good one.
