The victim was identified as 42-year-old Ankit Kumar Jha, a Quality Engineer of Reliance IT. On Monday morning, his body was found in the orchard with his throat slit at Vaishali district, 60 kms from capital Patna.

The body bore multiple injury marks on neck and stomach from a sharp object, SP Rakesh Kumar said, adding it has been sent for post-mortem at Sadar hospital in Hajipur.  A probe was on to find out the motive behind the murder, the SP added.

Ankit Kumar Jha, son of Shatrughan Jha, was a native of neighbouring Muzaffarpur district. His brother said he had left for work on Sunday night. “He left at night saying his company car was waiting outside. I thought it must be office work. When I tried to call him in the morning, both his phones were off. We then started looking for him but couldn’t find him. Then we got a call from the police,” he said.

On Saturday, two engineers of a private road construction company were shot dead by two unidentified men on a motorcycle in Darbhanga district, allegedly over an extortion demand. The police suspect the two engineers who were killed on Saturday were targeted after the company they worked for failed to meet a ransom demand. Sources in the police have however ruled out extortion bid as the reason behind Ankit Jha’s murder.

Police are probing into the incident so as to find the reason behind the murder. Meanwhile, the Nitish Kumar-led government has come under sharp criticism from the opposition parties post the murder of two engineers in Bihar’s Darbhanga district.  The BJP on Tuesday said it was evident that “jungle raj” would return in the state post the victory of the grand alliance in the state assembly polls.
