Central Govt To Convert All Indian Roads Into Cement-Concrete, Says Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

Indian roads are surely the matter of depression. This will remain as the penultimate problem of our country despite the various Governments and throughout the passing by decades.

With no absolute measures taken, a record making number of accidents take place on ill-built roads. With no proper covers on manholes and easy-made potholes by a mere shower of rain, till now, there’s no solution for this.

Roads are the first and foremost thing any dignitaries or visitors coming to India could see, and it can be guessed how morose impression they might get with this ridiculous roads. Putting aside all those things, safety, and smooth transportation is the much-needed criteria, this definitely deserves much attention.

Following the too many pseudo promises made by the authorities, for the first time ever, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has opened up about the issue, he said that all the roads in the country would be converted into cement-concrete ones to ensure their stability and durability.

“In Mumbai, the cement concrete roads built 20 years ago are still in a good shape. But some political leaders, bureaucrats, and contractors do not wish that such roads should be constructed in Mumbai. These people feel that tarred roads should be made and potholes should surface on them from time to time.”

Talking about the expansion and the tenure of the Cement-concrete roads, Gadkari added: “All the roads in the country would be converted into cement concrete ones. And I guarantee that they will last for 200 years.”

This happened during the inauguration ceremony of ‘Prawaas 2017′ – India International Bus and Car Travel Show.’ It is believed that the views of Gadkari, a former Public Works Department Minister of Maharashtra, comes in the backdrop of public outcry over the poor state of roads in Mumbai and its suburbs.

It went viral on social media that the popular radio jockey Malishka Mendonsa incurred the wrath of the Shiv Sena, which controls Mumbai’s civic body, for a satirical song on pothole ridden-Mumbai roads.

Later, Gadkari also spoke about the country’s much awaited Motor Bill, expressed confidence that the bill would be passed in the Parliament very soon.

Though, the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill 2017 is already passed by the Lok Sabha in 2016, it is yet to be passed by the Rajya Sabha.

Aiming at the steep enhancement in the fine for traffic violations, providing for compensation of Rs 5 lakh for grave injuries and cracking down on bogus licenses and vehicle thefts, this bill stands as one of the most prominent bills of BJP’s tenure.
