BCCI Did A Major Goof Up With T20 & ODI On Twitter And Twitterati Didn’t Hold It Back

No doubt India would continue to be ruthless on the field. The last time these two sides met at the Chinnaswamy, it was a cracker of a contest. What’s in store for us this time around. India has now won nine consecutive ODIs, the joint most equaling the nine we have won between 14 Nov 2008 to 5 Feb 2009 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

While India has taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series, the Australian players will be looking to salvage some pride in the remaining games. The penultimate One-Day International of the five-match series between India and Australia got underway at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

However, the toss was important as the wicket tends to slow down as the game progresses in this ground. It has been raining in the last couple of days in Bengaluru so batting second could be an advantage as well.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli spun the coin, which landed on the heads face-up as Steve Smith called it right. The visiting skipper decided to bat first and Virat said he’d have liked to do that as well. As is a norm now the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted the toss update on their Twitter handle.

Instead of the 4th ODI, the caption read- ‘1st Twenty20. Australia won the toss and elect to bat’.

BCCI Twitter goof up

Twitterati was surprised with this and a few even saw the funnier side of it. Someone asked if the players were also told that it’s a T20I otherwise they will play with the 50-over mindset.

Team India made three changes in the playing XI, bringing in Axar Patel for the chinaman Kuldeep Yadav and also rested both the pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah as Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami find a place in the XI. Australia, on the other hand, dropped Glenn Maxwell to bring back Matthew Wade while Adam Zampa took the field for Ashton Agar who has been ruled out of the series with a finger injury.
