BCCI Recommends MS Dhoni And Virat Kohli For Padma Awards

Eye brows are raised to see BCCI urging the names of Indian Cricket team Skipper and Indian Cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for Padma Bhusan and out of form Virat Kohli for Padmashree respectively as the Indian Cricket Team is struggling and trailing 2-1 in the five-match test series against the England.

The recommendations come after the team India is struggling in their overseas series in England and the Virat Kohli is especially striking with a bad patch. What could raise the few eye brows is that despite Mahendra Singh Dhoni snubbed to receive the Padmashree award which was awarded to him earlier.

As per the sources it is believed that Sports Ministry was sent recommendations by the BCCI to consider their plea. There has been a scuttlebutt that Indian Cricket Board has also been nominated Indian Woman’s Cricket team captain Mithali Raj for the Padmashree award.

It is evident that Indian Cricket Team Captain and Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was awarded Padmashree in the year 2009. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has lead Indian Cricket Teams in various formats and was a successful captain after Bengal Tiger Sourav Ganguly. Under Captaincy Indian Cricket Team was fortunate and flourished to win two world Cups and was productive enough to achieve top positions in test and ODI cricket formats.

India beat England in the final of Champions Trophy to clinch the title. In limited over cricket under his leadership, India has won all major ICC tournaments. Virat Kohli is an outstanding batsman with the aggressive attitude on pitch. Virat Kohli is was victorious in scoring 5634 runs in 134 ODIs and emerging as an Indian cricket teams mainstay player in the recent times.
