CBSE Paper Leak Accused To Be Taken To Himachal Pradesh For Case Reconstruction

New Delhi: The recent arrested three accused in the CBSE class 12 Economics paper leak case will be taken to Una in Himachal Pradesh to facilitate reconstruction of the sequence of events and question some more people over the matter, sources said.

The special investigation team from the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch  on Saturday held three staff members of the DAV School in Una in connection with the same case.

“The trio will be taken to Una, possibly tomorrow, to reconstruct the entire scene. The investigation so far has revealed that the paper was leaked from there, although it went viral through around 40 WhatsApp groups in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and maybe other states,” said a senior Delhi Police officer.

The person responsible for leaking the paper was DAV School’s economics teacher Rakesh Kumar. He took the help of his colleague Amit Sharma alongwith a clerk and Ashok Kumar, a peon of the school. The operation was done just three days before the Economics paper was scheduled on March 26.

“We will question the manager of the Union Bank of India as well as the principal of the Navodaya Vidyalaya in Una, where Rakesh was a superintendent of the CBSE exam,” he said.

As per the allegation, he took out a bundle of the economics paper from the bank’s strong room on March 23 while he went to take a bundle of the computer science paper which was to be distributed that day.

Then, a hand written copy of the economics paper was made and was sent to many people through 40 WhatsApp groups.

“We will also question the students who got the hand-written copy of the paper. The student in Una, who copied the paper in her handwriting and who was being helped by Rakesh, will also be questioned,” the officer said.

The Crime Branch investigating the case will also interrogate a female relative of Rakesh located in Chandigarh as she was sent a copy of the hand-written question paper through WhatsApp. Another two paper will also be interrogated in relation to the case for having received a copy of the paper, he added.

As per the earlier reports, the Education Body CBSE has been ignoring complaints related to the reports that some question papers were were in fact leaked for days and had to be cancelled two question papers which includes the economics exam of Class 12.

The decision to cancel those papers at that time was taken after few hours after the Class 10 mathematics paper leak was reportd and was being circulated on social media.

Union Education Minister Prakash Javadekar, later informed reporters that “2-3 papers” had leaked but promised all parents and students that all the authorities had already filed a police complaint right away. The minister noted that the leaks appeared to be nothing but a localized issue limited just to Delhi. As a result the accused were caught.
