Detective Byomkesh Bakshy  is an upcoming Indian crime thriller film directed by Dibakar Banerjee and produced by Banerjee and Aditya Chopra.The film is based on the fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi created by the Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The film stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Anand Tiwari and Swastika Mukherjee in principal roles. The film is scheduled for release on April 3, 2015

About Actual Byomkesh Bakshi :

Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Bandyopadhyay may be inspired by some stories of Sherlock Holmes of Arthur Conan Doyle. Actually Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay wrote 32 Byomkesh stories between 1932 and 1970, with one additional story remaining incomplete at the time of his death.

For the makers of the much-anticipated film has released its teaser. The teaser opens with an interesting soundtrack. And within seconds, one gets a peek into a warring Calcutta in 1943. With Japanese army troops walking on the roads of Calcutta to glimpses of a murder, the teaser is certainly high on suspense. Directed by Dibakar Banerjee, the film will release worldwide in 2015.

Byomkesh Bakshi has also been played by a series of Bengali actors in subsequent TV and film versions. Late filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh’s swan song Satyanweshi also revolves around the sleuth. The Bengali film is currently in post-production and features Kahaani fame director Sujoy Ghosh in the lead.

Dibakar Banerjee’s period thriller starts shooting in January 2014 and will hit theatres in December next year.
