She is the First Girl that Went from a Red Light Area To UN Award

Shweta Katti belongs to a red-light district of Kamathipura in Mumbai. She just won the United Nations Youth courage Award.

She is the first girl from the red-light district of Kamathipura in Mumbai to procure a full scholarship at the prestigious Bard College in New York.

She was also named one of 25 women under 25 to watch by Newsweek magazine for her heroic efforts to break the social stigma associated with Dalits. She has delivered a talk before a massive crowd at TEDx NMIMS Bangalore, all at the age of just 19!

She grew up wanting to be a CA but after she has exposed to the society around her she decided to take up psychology instead to help other girls when she return home India.
