It is very rare we see or even hear about celebrities traveling in a train like other individuals. A few months earlier, we had seen MS Dhoni traveling on a train with his Jharkhand teammates for a Ranji Trophy encounter.

Even Dhoni’s pictures alongside his teammates in the compartment of the train had the social media buzzing. His fans and many others lauded Dhoni for his humility. After Dhoni traveling in the train, former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly also decided to travel in a train.

But, unlike Dhoni, his experience was nothing short of an absolute nightmare. He was traveling to unveil his statue at Balurghat in West Bengal. Sourav Ganguly was involved in a tussle over his berth and the incident was also captured on a camera.

According to media reports, Ganguly was traveling with Abhishek Dalmiya – joint secretary of the Cricket Association Of Bengal (CAB). And he found his AC first class seat already occupied by another passenger in the train. Thinking that the passenger might have occupied his seat by mistake, Ganguly politely asked him to vacate his seat as it is reserved for him.

But, to the sheer disbelief of former Indian opener, the passenger felt otherwise and started arguing with him. While Dada is trying to resolve the matter, the passenger got furious and began a brawl which forced the RPF personnel to intervene.

After the brawl, Ganguly de-boarded the train and as soon as the matter came to light, the crowd gathered at the spot. Later, with no option, Ganguly was offered a berth in AC 2-tier. “I traveled in a train once after 2001. It’s been almost after 15 years,” Ganguly said as he alighted from the Padatik Express in Malda.

Ganguly unveiled his statue at the Bikash Maidan, where scores of fans turned up to get his glimpse. Ganguly later shared the photographs of the event with his fans on Twitter. “At Dakshin Dinajpur. Just human heads,” he tweeted.

He also shared a photo of himself alongside the statue with another tweet that read: “Looks like me”.

The statue was of a young Ganguly raising his bat to acknowledge his first Test century against Australia during the Brisbane Test in 2003. Sourav Ganguly recently played a key role in the appointment of Ravi Shastri as India’s new coach.
