Gurdaspur Attack: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Announces Promotions for Cops

Punjab cops are being bestowed with acclamations and promotions from the state government after the atrocious Gurdaspur terror attack. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab said the state administration has ordered promotions for all cops of Dina Nagar police station. Police cops who bravely battled  and killed three terrorist’s with the meager weapons are awarded accordingly for their efforts while neutralizing the their strike on July 27.

Punjab state government is planning to announce and to form a Rapid Rural Response force after witnessing the recent terror attacks in the due course of time. The Rapid Rural Response force would be launched next month to respond to any terror attacks in future within 10 minutes in any village of the state.

Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal said “it is a matter of record that you did not care for your personal safety and went after the terrorists with whatever was at your command. I feel proud that I am home minister of a State and a force which is individually capable of taking any terrorist activity head on” while addressing Armed forces personnel’s who displayed exemplary courage and valour during the operation against the terrorists.

Mr. Badal affirmed and assured that all Armed and Police personnel’s would be awarded and honored for exhibiting their exemplary courage during the need of the hour. He acclaimed that “it was not an easy task to neutralize such highly trained terrorists. Besides promotions for all personnel who participated in the operation, all home guards who were part of the operation would be inducted into the main force.”

Punjab states Deputy CM, Sukhbir Singh Badal was on an investment promotion visit to Poland when the terror attack was in action. Mr. Badal on his return congratulated DGP Sumedh Singh Saini for leading from the front on the occasion as well as the fast response of the Punjab Police in dealing with the situation. Besides explaining the whole operation deputy CM was accompanied to the spot of terror attack by the DGP Sumedh Singh Saini where the terrorists were holed up besides explaining the whole operation.

Launch of Rapid Rural Response Force in Punjab

Mr. Badal interacted with the police personnel involved in the operation and felicitated them. On this occasion Mr. Badal said “a Rapid Rural Response force would be launched next month where this force would respond to any call emanating from any village in the State “within ten minutes as was the case in the cities at present”.

He further added that “About 220 vehicles have been ordered for Rapid Rural Response force. Punjab would also set up a training institute near Derabassi at a cost of Rs. 50 crore to impart specialized training to the police force. An exclusive SWAT team would be established in addition to the present team for the border areas.”
