If you are looking to sell a ticket that is confirmed for you for some reason and you don’t want to travel, it is not possible to transfer a ticket till now, but now, you can happily transfer the ticket to your family members or any other person.

Here is the official statement by Indian Railways.

“Chief Reservation Supervisor of important stations are authorized by Railway Administration to permit the change the name of a passenger having a seat or a berth reserved in his name.”

The below is the guideline from the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on how to avail this facility.

The Indian Railways has also said that the request for the ticket transfer will happen only once. However, in a few cases like for students, marriage party, NCC cadets, the requests will change in excess of 10 per cent of the total strength of the group shall not be granted.
