‘Hyderabad Is For All; Congress For Hyderabad,’ Says TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy

As the elections for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) are going to be held in just a few days, there is going to be a tough competition between TRS and Congress. KTR during a press meet announced that he will quit as a minister if TRS fails to get a majority in upcoming GHMC elections. He also predicted that TRS will up to 100 seats and Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) will stand second and BJP will get third place.

Says TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy

KTR also added that the Congress will only get 10 seats and he openly challenged the Congress leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy and Kishen Reddy and questioned them whether they would resign if their party lost.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said that he would resign if TRS wins 100 seats in the GHMC elections and slammed TRS Government that it has done nothing to Hyderabad except threats of collapsing Osmania and Secretariat.

The Congress is confident of getting back its traditional vote bank in the ensuing elections to the GHMC. The party also feels that the Seemandhra people, who made Hyderabad as their home, will vote for Congress this time as the issues related to the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh have subsided since the last General Elections in 2014.

“These elections are as important to us as any other elections. We also think that it is a good opportunity for us to recover our vote base. Slowly, people of Hyderabad are realising that Congress is the best suited for them among all the competent parties,” TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said as reported by The Hindu.

He said that the Congress would be coming up with a special manifesto for the GHMC elections and the party’s main plank, besides provision of basic amenities, would be “Hyderabad is for all”.

Mr. Reddy feels that his party’s main rival in the GHMC poll would be the MIM in the old city and the TRS in other areas. “For various reasons, the TDP-BJP combine has lost significant ground since 2014”, he added.
