Illegal Oil Making Unit Raided In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force (south) team on Thursday raided an illegal unit in which oil was being prepared from animal parts. Three persons were taken into custody on the charge of extracting oil from animal carcasses while the owner is absconding. Around 1,120 litres of oil prepared from the wastage was seized. The police also seized four LPG cylinders and an auto rickshaw from them.

Acting on a tip-off, the team raided an open compound near Mir Alam Tank in Bahadurpura and found that the accused Mohd Ghouse and Mohd Illyas extracting oil from animal remains and bones.

Police said that the unit owner Atheeq was running it for the past few months and manufacturing oil from animal carcasses and marketing as a cooking oil in surroundings areas of Hyderabad. Efforts are being made to nab Ateeq who is absconding, the police added.

“Ateeq purchased the animal remains and other waste from meat shops across the city. The wastage was melted in big containers at the manufacturing unit. The oil extracted through the process was filled in small containers and dispatched to customers,” said Task Force additional DCP N. Koti Reddy, adding that this oil would have adverse effects on the consumers.

The oil manufactured was packed in tins of 15 litres capacity and sold for Rs 600 each to customers in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.

The Saidabad police on Thursday evening conducted a cordon-and-search operation at Chintal area and took four suspects into custody. Around 200 policemen participated in the exercise.
