As per reports, it is a 360 feet flag and was hosted at the Attari-Wagah border check post in Punjab. The most interesting thing about it is that it can be spotted from Lahore as well.

Before this, the title of the tallest national flag in India belonged to a 293-foot-high tricolor that was hoisted in Jharkhand’s Ranchi.

Know more about the flag here:

The new tricolor flag is hoisted on a 360 feet high pole where the length of the flag is 120 feet and the breadth is 80 feet. Don’t you want to know the price? Well, Rs 3.50 crores was spent by Amritsar Improvement Trust on this project.

The foundation is very strong and it is capable of withstanding high-velocity winds i.e. up 180km/ hour. It was hoisted by Anil Joshi, the Punjab Local Bodies Minister, and BJP Leader. A private company will look after the flag maintenance; it has got this maintenance contract for 3 years.

The flag is expected to attract tourists who visit the Attari border to watch the famous Beating the Retreat ceremony between the two countries.

Even visitors from Pakistan’s gallery were also seen watching the Indian flag with keen interest. The pole, which is already in place, is said to be visible from a long distance, even from Lahore in Pakistan.

Pakistan feels “Unhappy”

Interestingly, Pakistan is not happy with India’s decision to hoist the tricolor at the international border and wants the flag to be installed away from the border.

Yes, the nation is of the opinion that this flag has violated international treaties. Also, Pakistani officials feel that India has installed cameras on the pole, for spying their country.

However, Indian authorities gave clarifications that the installation was done 200 meters away from the zero line and hence, the treaties aren’t violated.

Not to my knowledge. It is our national flag and nobody can stop us from hoisting it on our soil,” said Joshi.

This is indeed a proud moment for India. What’s your take on this? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
