ISL 2015 Auction Updates: Ten Players Sold for Rs 7.22 Crore in Auction

India’s premier football league sports championship Indian Super League auctions has commenced with the a grand note. This year’s Indian Super League (ISL) would be the second the season featuring eight teams. Usually ISL offsets on 3 October and will end on 6 December as per schedule with the finals beginning on 11 December and concluding with the final on 20 December. Previous season’s champion was Atlético de Kolkata franchise team which defeated the Kerala Blasters in the finals with 1–0  in the previous season.

Indian Super League (ISL) 2015 auction rights were won by the defending champions of Atletico de Kolkata as the first club to pick up the players in the domestic drafts Atletico de Kolkata. All the clubs of ISL would be selecting and picking up the players from the 112 players of Domestic Player Draft to complete their respective 13 player signing in this category. FC Goa which has 11 domestic players initially has signed through retention or in the free market to participate only in the first two rounds of the draft to pick up two players.

This season Indian Super League (ISL) football club, Mumbai City FC will be the only team to complete their requirement of 13 domestic player signings participating in all seven rounds of the domestic player draft. Mumbai FC will be looking ahead to pick up a maximum of best players during this auction as they have signed just six  players till now.

As of the each club of Indian Super League (ISL) has a reserve purse value of Rs 21 crore where every club would be allowed to sign in 13 domestic players spending a maximum of Rs 5.50 crore while clubs would be able to spend upto a maximum of Rs 15.50 crore to sign in international and marquee players. ISL clubs would be selecting and picking up players from the Player Draft auction list for base price which has unsold players.

Indian Super League FC clubs minimum squad size is 22 players and the maximum squad size is 26 players where each team would be allowed to add four more players to the under the ‘Additional Player’ allocation through open market with maximum two international players. ISL FC clubs buying players at auction will also be considered in the ‘Additional Quota’ where the International Player Salary Cap i.e. Rs 15.50 crore will be considered as bid price at which a player is bought by a club at auction.

ISL auctioning will have each domestic player being individually presented in person in the open auction. Auctioner would be asking for bids in the open auction with each subsequent bid request being at least of the increment stated from the base payer fee of each player. Among all selected players of 26 members squad each club should have to ensure that it has three goalkeepers so that each club have two Domestic and one international goalkeeper.

So far eight clubs of ISL have signed 64 players through retention or in free market. Sources of ISL claim that about a total of 40 domestic players will be selected through the draft so that the clubs will have 13 domestic players by the end of the draft process. Among the 13 domestic players, each club is designated to have two domestic player under the age of 23 years old (called ‘Developmental Player’).

Each football club would be represented by their head coach/assistant coach and technical staff other than celebrity club owners, Saurav Ganguly, the star studded sportsmen is believed to be gracing the auction. Here is the list of the draft players which has 15 goalkeeers, 35 defenders, 52 midfielders and 11 strikers to choose from.
