Many of the Facebook employees were asked to switch on Android OS powered gadgets from iPhones by the chief product officer at Facebook Chris Cox. What Made Facebook Employees to Switch onto Android?

Apprising his views, Chief Product officer at Facebook Chris Cox said the main intention of him behind this new amendment is made employees use their service in the gadgets which are being highly used by people across the globe. Facebook which has a large database of 1.5 billion users as of now seems to be looking ahead to add on even more users. While among the existing 1.5 billion users most of them hail from developing nations who predominantly use Android OS powered gadgets.

Facebook Chief Product Officer Chris Cox said that “employees would pick up an iPhone by choice over Android. However, a majority of Facebook’s new users will use Android and Facebook employees should get the same experience as these new users.” Apart from studying the PPTs and Videos, Cox has urged employees at Facebook to move on to Android gadgets so that it would let them know how important these markets are for the growth of the company. And the main intention behind this seems to be pulling in news users who are just getting used to the Internet.

Being a publicly listed company, Facebook’s efforts are on to get to know how things work in the emerging / developing markets following the new strategies to please all its shareholders. Some of the challenges which are ceasing the efforts of Facebook in developing nations is the lack of proper infrastructure. To address this challenge it has now ascended with a new type of video but not-quite-video advertising type in the mobile advertising space.

Added to this many other initiatives and strategies have been implemented at the Facebook campus. Employees of Facebook would be asked on their apps if they’d like to experience the app on slower 2G connections on Tuesdays as part of 2G Tuesdays which let them experience the app in 2G network for about an hour.

Facebook is leaving no stones to acquire more users and hold its control over social networking across the world. Another example to this would be its prestigious project ‘Free Basics’ in India which is renamed ‘Internet.org’ initiative which offers a set of basic services, including its own social network; completely free of cost to these new users. All these changes indicate that Facebook does really wish to have all people to use its services. What do you say? Share your thoughts with us leaving them below as comments.
