Former Wrestler Mahavir Phogat Slams Javed Akhtar For Calling His Daughters ‘Hardly Literate’

It has been a couple of days and the Cargill Martyr-Mandeep’s  Daughter-Gurmehar Kaur’s video is making rounds on social media. Starting with the witty reply from cricketer Virender Sehwag, the ace actor Randeep Hooda, wrestler Babita Phogat joined the counter side.

Later, the popular wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt has joined the trio’s hands against Kaur’s ideologies.

And Yogeshwar Dutt’s tweet:

Meanwhile, the gold medalist Babita Phogat was quoted saying:

“Gurmeher Kaur’s view that her father was killed by war and not Pakistan was wrong for me. It is against our nation and martyrs.”

And Geeta Phogat:

The issue now became viral after Gurmehar Kaur changed her Facebook profile picture to one with her holding a placard that says, “I AM A STUDENT OF DELHI UNIVERSITY. I AM NOT AFRAID OF ABVP. I AM NOT ALONE. EVERY STUDENT OF INDIA IS WITH ME. #FIGHTBACKDU #STUDENTSAGAINSTABVP”.

The video posted by her in early 2016 slamming both the countries went viral. In which she stated: “Pakistan did not kill my dad, the war killed him”.

Surprising the majority’s opinions, this is what Javed Akhtar has said, briefly slamming the wrestlers marking them as illiterate:

Soon after acknowledging these tweets, Mahavir Singh Phogat took on to his twitter handle and slammed Akhtar for his insensitive statements.
