Mahela Jayawardene Warns Hardik Pandya After SRH Match

Continuing their troubles since the start of the latest season of Indian Premier League (IPL 2018), Mumbai Indians on Tuesday lost fifth of the six matches they have played in the tournament so far. Mumbai Indians once again failed to produce a positive result for themselves as they were bundled out for 87 while chasing 119 in Mumbai. This is Mumbai’s 5th defeat in 6 matches and they are at number six with 2 points under their belt.

After being put to bat first, SRH set a target of 119 runs for Mumbai Indian (MI) but the hosts surrendered before SRH bowlers and were all out for just 87.

After the way Mumbai played against Sunrisers, the head coach of Mumbai Indians Mahela Jayawardene hit out at the players. Major shock was Hardik Pandya took 19 balls to score just 3 runs during the chase.

Mahela Jayawardene said “Today I am disappointed, we have put ourselves in this situation, there is no one else to blame.”

Talking about the batting he said ” “Every year you can’t bat the same way, if people don’t evolve and improve, there is no progress, young guys like Hardik will learn that and need to work harder, the talent alone will not get you. Learning the game and thinking about the game, that’s the part they need to keep learning and especially with good international bowlers coming and doing various things. You have to evolve, otherwise you won’t be able to be consistent.”

Talking about absence of Bhuvaneshwar and Stanlake, “We really didn’t have to take chances against their main bowlers. We had to knock it around and then maybe a couple of bowlers we could have attacked, they were not there with their full strength (bowling attack). With no Bhuvi, they had a young attack and we could have taken advantage of that. Thinking wise we were very poor,” he further added.
Mumbai Indians will play their next game against in-form Chennai Super Kings at Pune on April 28th.
