Megastar Chiranjeevi, the actor turned politician got arrested today at the Rajahmundry airport when he was on his way to meet Kapu crusader Mudragada Padmanabham in Kirlampudi, East Godavari district.

Today morning, both the congress leaders, Chiranjeevi along with APCC chief Raghuveera Reddy, former Union minister took a special flight from Begumpet airport to meet Padmanabham and want to extend the support of Congress party to him who is fasting unto death demanding reservation for the Kapu community people.

APCC chief N Raghuveera Reddy on Sunday at Gandhi Bhavan said to media that, ” Chiranjeevi and some other ministers had decided to pay a visit to Padmanabham at Kirlampudi and extend their support to him on Monday.” He also added that “Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to create the rift between Kapus and BCs through his provocative statements.”

Chiranjeevi’s support to the issue is expected to raise the intensity of the protests. Meanwhile, Congress workers are protesting against the arrest, alleging that it is unjust to take leaders into the custody, who has come to extend their support.

Moreover, Chiranjeevi who went a shoulder surgery at a private hospital in Mumbai on Thursday and it is said to be a minor surgery few days ago advised taking rest for few weeks. But the actor has decided to come out in favor of the serious protests by Kapu leaders. On the other hand, mega fans are worried about the actor’s health, while they are condemning the arrest, as well.

A source said that “Over the last few months, he’s been struggling with some pain in his shoulder. He has finally decided to get it operated as he starts shooting for his next film from March, and doesn’t want the pain to aggravate.”
