Micromax Now Among Top 10 Smartphone Vendors in the World, Huawei Recorded Highest Growth

Smartphone users have been increasing day by day and meanwhile the sales have been improving a lot worldwide. Gartner, Inc., an American information technology research and advisory firm has given its third quarter 2015 report. Gartner has reported that the smartphone sales across the world are being driven by emerging markets such as India and China.  The smartphone shipments in July-September 2015 globally reached 478 million units that show rapid growth in emerging markets. The research firm also reported that the Indian brand Micromax was among top 10 handset vendors.

Gartner Report 2015

The same report also summarised that the affordable, Android-powered smartphones are driving worldwide smartphone sales as of the Q3 2015. Gartner also reported that Huawei has recorded highest growth in both mobile phone and smartphone sales in Third Quarter of 2015. According to Anshul Gupta, Gartner Research Director, the reason behind this rapid growth is that affordable Android smartphones are making it easier for feature phone users to upgrade to a smartphone.

Micromax Among Top 10 Global Mobile Phone Vendors List

Micromax, the Indian Smartphone manufacturers has occupied a place among the top 10 global mobile phone vendors list. Being a newcomer, Micromax has become one among the top 10 smartphone vendors in the world. Micromax’s sales jumped over two-fold to 12.16 million units in the reported period compared to 5.6 million units in the same period a year ago.

“Worldwide mobile phone sales to end users totalled nearly 478 million units during the third quarter of 2015. Continued growth in emerging markets helped bolster sales of local brands. As a result, Micromax Informatics cemented its place among the top 10 global mobile phone vendors,” Gartner said.

Android Continues to be Worldwide Leader

Android Operating system continues to be a leader across the world. It makes good sense as the prices of entry level Android smartphones these days has dropped from an average Rs 10,000 to about Rs 7,000 with some entry-levels 4G capable models selling for as low as Rs 5000. Android leads the operating system with 1.4 percent gain in market share over last year and still remains at 84.7 percent compared to Apple that seems to fight an uphill battle at 13.1 percent.

Android Worldwide Leader

Microsoft has launched new Windows 10 operating system this year with amazing features. Even with the launch of Windows 10 for desktop (and soon on smartphones), Microsoft did not move up instead, dropped down from 3 percent to 1.7 compared to last year. BlackBerry like always seems to be in a secure spot and everything may get a little intricated as it has begun the rollout of its Android-powered Priv smartphone this year.

Samsung Tops the List and Huawei in the Third Position

Samsung maintained its global leadership with sales growing by about 9 percent year-on-year to over 102 million units and was followed by Apple which registered 20.6 per cent growth in sales at over 46 million devices. Samsung tops the list of smartphone sales to end users by vendor in the third quarter of 2015. Surprisingly, Huawei recorded the highest growth worldwide up from 5.2 percent in 3Q14 to 7.7 percent and placed in the third position.

Chinese handset maker Huawei sold 27.26 million smartphones in the reported quarter of 2015 compared to 15.93 million smartphones it sold a year ago. Other Chinese brands such as Xiaomi moved on with their sales force, again in emerging markets. Other smartphone vendors listed among the top 10 were Samsung, Apple, Microsoft, Huawei, LG Electronics, Lenovo, Xiaomi, TCL Communication, ZTE, Micromax.
