MS Dhoni’s Reply To Reporter, “Match Ho Gaya Bhai, Don’t Ask Me Such Questions”

India Limited Over Captain MS Dhoni has faced loads of questions in the press conference after the series loss over South Africa. Dhoni admitted that the loss reassures the fact that the ODI team is not well settled at the moment. Due to Indian bowlers failure, South Africa posted a huge target of 439 for India in the decider match. South African batsmen Quinton De Kock, Faf Du Plessis and Captain AB De Villiers scored stunning hundreds to sum up such a huge total.

In their chase, Indian players were shot out for 224 in just 36 overs which are a bad performance from the Indian side. Thus, Dhoni admitted the team is in a tough spot. Dhoni in the post-match press conference said, “I know India is more about the result, but at the same time you won’t always get the results if you are not looking into the process. It’s a tough situation.” “But at the same time we are looking for the solution. We have to try a few other things, because if you are doing the same thing, you will get the same result,” he explained.

Proteas registered their first-ever bilateral ODI series in India in the five-match ODI series (3-2) soon after their 2-0 triumph in the three T20s. “We have to look at the larger (longer) picture. Otherwise, maybe you will win a series here and there. But to be consistent you have to have a settled team. To a lot of extents our team does not look to be that settled,” Dhoni said. When asked about no single change in the team, Dhoni replied as follows.

When asked about what went wrong in the decider match, Dhoni replied, “Yeh sawal aaj mat Pooch Match me Galati Kahan Hui. Sade Charso run Ke Aaspaas Bane Hai Aur Aap Poochte Hain Galati Kahan Hui (Don’t ask me today what went wrong. Close to 450 runs had been scored by South Africa, and you are asking this).”

“You have to look at the venue, what kind of wicket is provided and accordingly you have to make changes. I have made a few changes in the batting order to see what gives more strength to our batting order, what looks like a very good composition when you are chasing. All these things you have to study.” “We will keep talking we don’t have to seam all rounder’s. We have tried Stuart. People have criticized that also. Whether you like it or not these are our best seaming and spinning all-rounder’s and we have to make the best out of them,” he emphasized.

“We have to find ways to see the best bowling composition for us, but at the same time not at the cost of being too light when it comes to batting. We have to address these problems,” Dhoni noted. “I think there’s a bit of a difference between top first-class cricket and international cricket. Overall we are off and on. We are lacking a bit of consistency when it comes to death bowling. There are days where we have done really well and there have been matches when we had given away a lot of runs in the last ten.”

When asked about the results of T20s and ODIs, Dhoni said “Results of T20 and ODIs will not bother players at all because a Test is a completely different challenge.”
