No Trophy, But Mumbai Kid Sunny Pawar Owns The Oscars Red Carpet

Indian actor Sunny Pawar, who plays the younger Saroo in the Oscar-nominated film Lion, seemed to enjoy his time at the awards show. Sunny Pawar is the son of a former government office sweeper. The young and talented actor is now a favorite with Hollywood A-listers.

Mumbai slum kid and Lion star Sunny Pawar, the 8-year-old star of Lion stood out on the red carpet and was one of the most memorable red carpet fashionistas in the Oscars 2017.

Mumbai-based Sunny Pawar, stole everyone’s hearts with that disarming smile and a Simba-like yell from Lion King. The Eight-year-old was selected from 2,000 children across schools in India to play the role of the young Saroo Brierley. A Class 3 student of the Air India Model School stood as a special attraction in 89th Oscar red carpet.

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the awards ceremony walked down to where Sunny was sitting to talk to him strangely about the editing quality of ‘Hacksaw Ridge’. “Sunny was selected from around 2,000 talented children in a hunt in schools all over India, culminating in the final auditions held in Mumbai and Pune some one-and-half year ago. He fitted the role perfectly,” a source said.
