NPR to begin house to house from Nov 16 – Dec 15 :

The main objective of the National Population Register (NPR) is to create a comprehensive identity database of every usual resident in the country and this database would contain demographic as well as biometric particulars.

As per a notification issued by the Centre for preparing the National Population Register would be updated based on the Census 2011. The Census data which has been registered earlier would be cross-checked as per the additions and deletions made in the NPR in every household.

Meanwhile, the Teachers associations are looking for excluding from the exercise because the several working days would be lost particularly when the government schools are lagging behind in syllabus coverage  and due to the supply of textbooks delay this year. Nearly 70 percent of the 1.15 lakh government teachers are assigned to the Aadhaar database by this by house-to-house enumeration duties.

President of TS-UTF, Mr A Narsi Reddy said that nearly 40 days classes were disrupted in government schools due to the teacher transfer process this year and there have been 30 holidays since June. He further said that it is not possible for government teachers to do the National Population Register (NPR) updating duties even though officials have asked them to resume the work after school hours.
