Delhi: Pizza Delivery Boy Arrested For Molesting Minor Girl

Police cops have arrested pizza delivery boy on Sunday in Southeast Delhi’s Ashram area for allegedly molesting a minor girl. Cops have determined during the preliminary investigation revealed that the 28-year-old pizza delivery boy, Amit allegedly molested a minor girl around 11.45, who was employed with one of the leading pizza chain of India, Domino’s. Pizza delivery boy sexually exploited the girl when he arrived at the girl’s residence to deliver an order on Sunday.

Minor Girl Sexually Exploited by Pizza Delivery Boy

AMIT, 28-year-old pizza delivery boy is charged under the Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by the police. As per the reports of the MS Randhawa, DCP (Southeast district) a case was registered at Lajpat Nagar police station and the accused has been arrested.

M S Randhawa said “The child’s statement will be recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC before a magistrate on Monday.” The employer of Amit, pizza delivery boy, Domino’s spokesperson expressed their support from their firm in an official announcement stating as “Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd (JFL)/Domino’s Pizza would like to state that it has been brought to our notice that one of our delivery boys from the Lajpat Nagar restaurant has been accused of conducting himself in an unlawful manner. The matter is currently being investigated… We are extending our full cooperation to ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out. We would like to reiterate that at JFL, there is zero tolerance for any such unlawful behaviour and we have terminated the services of the employee concerned with immediate effect.”

Cops briefed that the victim minor girls father who works for a leading MNC placed an online order for a pizza on Sunday on being asked by his daughter. The young girls family which lives in a three storey building, occupies all the floors and the she was on her way from the first floor to the third when the incident occurred.

Police officer stated “Around 11.20 am, Amit was asked to deliver three orders, including one at the victim’s home in Ashram. Around 11.40 am, he reached the victim’s home. Amit delivered the pizza to the girl’s grandmother on the third floor. As he turned around to leave, he noticed the victim climbing the stairs. Once her grandmother went inside, he stopped the victim and allegedly inappropriately touched her in the staircase after switching off the lights.”

Officer further added “Accused Amit got scared after the victim started crying. Amit then escaped. The girl told her mother about the incident, who informed relatives. They went to the Lajpat Nagar outlet of Domino’s to enquire about Amit. The family did not find him as Amit had still not returned. Then, they made a call to the PCR. Police immediately reached the spot and the victim was taken to AIIMS. On the basis of the victim’s mother complaint, a case was registered and the accused arrested from Madangir area.”

Child-Molestation IN Delhi

During the preliminary investigation initially the accused denied any wrongdoing while producing the recovered CCTV footage showing him entering the locality and parking his motorcycle, he confessed to the crime. Investigation officer claimed that “The accused is a resident of Dakshinpuri and was employed with the Domino’s outlet around three months ago.”

Domino’s claimed Amit’s police verification record was checked before he was hired. Domino’s spokesperson said “At Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd (JFL)/Domino’s Pizza, all employees are assured of a workplace free of any kind of harassment and are expected to extend a similar environment to consumers. Our stringent policies on sexual
harassment apply to all employees, regardless of their position. All employees are personally responsible for their actions and must ensure that their behaviour does not constitute sexual harassment.”
